Decision in case 1263/2018/MH on the European Commission’s failure to reply to correspondence concerning new technology for electricity production
Entscheidung
Fall 1263/2018/MH - Geöffnet am Freitag | 03 August 2018 - Entscheidung vom Montag | 04 März 2019 - Betroffene Institution Europäische Kommission ( Durch die Einrichtung beigelegt ) - Land Rumänien
1. On 6 July 2018, the complainant wrote to the European Commission enclosing his proposal for a new, more efficient technology to be used to produce electricity. The complainant had already contacted the Commission in August 2017 with similar information, which the Commission had noted with interest. He had also asked the Commission to support him in promoting the technology in question. As the complainant did not receive a reply, he complained to the European Ombudsman on 11 July 2018. On 22 July 2018, he wrote again to the Commission about this matter.
2. The Ombudsman’s inquiry team contacted the Commission. On 26 October 2018, the Commission replied to the complainant. In particular, it noted that the technology described could assist in meeting the objectives of the 2030 climate and energy framework and the Paris Agreement targets. Since it cannot cooperate directly with individuals or companies on technologies, the Commission provided the complainant with information about funding opportunities under the EU’s Horizon 2020 framework for innovative companies.
3. As a reply has now been sent, this complaint is resolved[1] and I have therefore decided to close the case[2].
