Decision in case 556/2019/PB on the European Commission’s failure to reply to correspondence concerning the usefulness and possible discrimination in its building access rules for external staff

1. On 28 February 2019, the complainant wrote to the European Commission about the usefulness and possible discrimination in its building access rules for external staff.
2. As the complainant did not receive a reply, he turned to the European Ombudsman, on 25 March 2019.
3. The Ombudsman’s inquiry team contacted the European Commission. The Commission then replied to the complainant on 17 April 2019. It apologised for the delay incurred.
4. As a reply has now been sent, this complaint is resolved[1] and I have decided to close the case[2].

[1] If the complainant considers that the institution’s reply is not satisfactory, it is open to him/her/it to make a new complaint to the Ombudsman.
