The European Ombudsman has received the European Commission's reply in the inquiry into how it prepared a legislative proposal as part of its omnibus package of simplification measures.

In July, the Ombudswoman asked the Commission for detailed explanations on why a series of procedural steps - foreseen under internal rules - were not carried out.

Once the analysis of the Commission's reply is completed, the Ombudswoman will take the next steps in the inquiry.
