Dear Ms X,
You recently submitted a complaint to the European Ombudsman. Your complaint concerns the failure of the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon to reply to your administrative complaint in which you requested interests on late payment of the severance grant. The European Ombudsman opened an own-initiative inquiry on the basis of your complaint.
On 24 August 2026, you informed us that the Delegation replied to your administrative complaint. We consider that the subject-matter of your complaint is now settled and have closed the own-initiative inquiry.
Please note that this inquiry concerned exclusively the Delegation’s failure to reply to your administrative complaint.
We understand that you have now submitted a request for review to the Delegation regarding its decision on your administrative complaint. While you should wait for the reply of the Delegation to your request for review before considering whether to turn again to the Ombudsman,[1] please note that, under the applicable rules, the Delegation will only accept to review your case if there are new relevant facts of which the local agent was not previously aware. This may not appear to be the case regarding your submission.
Yours sincerely,
Vieri Biondi
Head of Inquiries Unit III (ad interim)
[1] If you do not receive a satisfactory reply to your request within a reasonable timeframe, you may turn again to the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman will then assess whether it is justified to open an own-initiative inquiry. Should you wish to submit a new complaint, please use the complaint form on our website: https://www.ombudsman.europa.eu/en/make-a-complaint (‘Make a Complaint’). If you send us an email, we will not be able to process this as a complaint.
