Biography - Anne-Marie Perret, Right 2 Water (ECI)

Right 2 Water (ECI)

Right 2 WaterWater is a public good, not a commodity.

This ECI invites the European Commission to propose legislation implementing the human right to water and sanitation as recognised by the United Nations, and promoting the provision of water and sanitation as essential public services for all.

  • EU legislation should require governments to ensure and to provide all citizens with sufficient and clean drinking water and sanitation.
  • Water supply and management of water resources should not be subject to ‘internal market rules’ and water services should be excluded from liberalisation.

The one million signature threshold has already been reached. As the campaign is still going strong, the organisers have raised the target for September 2013 to two million signatures.
