Dear Mr V.,

I am writing in reply to your complaint of 23 July 2001 concerning the services you provided for a project on judicial reform in Croatia. In your complaint, you alleged the following:

1) The work you carried out at home was not recognised by the Commission and subsequently, the Commission prevented you from receiving the sum of money which you were due;

2) Your letter of 28 June 2001 to Dr. Reinhard Priebe of the Commission remained unanswered.

After a careful examination of your complaint, the European Ombudsman had contacted the Commission on 5 September 2001 with a request to comment on your complaint. By letter of 26 October 2001, you informed the Ombudsman that the Commission has replied to your letter on 15 October 2001 and that therefore, you withdraw your complaint.

The Ombudsman takes note of this action and decides to close the case. The Ombudsman regrets the delay that led to the late closure of this complaint.

The President of the Commission will be informed of this decision.
