Handling of two complaints concerning entries in the Commission's Register of Interest Representatives and the associated request for public access to documents

Allegation(s)
The complainant alleges that the Commission erred:
1) by failing to give adequate reasons for rejecting its view that the lobbying budgets submitted by two companies[1] in relation to the Commission's "Lobbyists" Register were underestimated;
2) by rejecting its request for full public access to documents related to the entries made by the two companies in the Commission's "Lobbyists" Register;
3) by failing to respect the time limits laid down in Regulation 1049/2001 on public access to documents.
Claim(s)
The complainant claims that the Commission should:
1) properly handle complaints concerning interest representation;
2) give access to the requested documents in their entirety.
[1] The Ombudsman will not publish the company names in the material relating to this case that is published on his website. If necessary, he will also take further measures to ensure that the interests of these third parties are not damaged by his inquiry.
