Decision in case 1457/2018/LM on the lack of reply by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) to a question about an investigation

1. On 12 March 2018, the complainant asked OLAF to update him on the status of the investigation on his complaint. As OLAF did not reply to his e-mail, the complainant turned to the European Ombudsman on 14 August 2018, arguing that OLAF is not investigating his complaint.

2. The Ombudsman’s inquiry team contacted OLAF. OLAF then replied to the complainant on 15 October 2018. It confirmed that the investigation is ongoing but that it cannot disclose any further information without harming the investigation. OLAF apologized for the delay in replying to the complainant’s question.

3. As a reply has now been sent, in which OLAF confirms that it is investigating the matter complained about, this complaint is resolved. I have thus decided to close the case[1].
