The Ombudsman considers it important to note that the institutions and bodies of the European Communities are obliged to cooperate with him and that he would not be able to fulfil the mission entrusted to him if he could not be confident that the information provided to him by these institutions and bodies is correct. Any suggestion that a Community institution or body might have provided incorrect information or even lied to him is therefore taken very seriously by the Ombudsman.
