Decision of the European Ombudsman on complaint 711/99/GG against the European Commission

THIS COMPLAINT WAS CONFIDENTIALLY CONFIDENTIAL. THE DECISION HAS BEEN ANANONYMIZED BY THE NAME OF THE APPLICANT BY 'X' AND THAT OF THE COMPANY FOR WHICH THE APPLICANT HAS BEEN REPLACED BY 'Y'. For the purpose of facilitating the teachings, the male form was chosen to designate the complainant.

Strasbourg, 15 November 1999
Dear Mr X.,
in your letter of 11 June 1999 (received here on 21 June 1999), you lodged a complaint on behalf of Y concerning the conduct of the European Commission's Service Commun Relex (SCR) with regard to the supply of food to North Korea.
I forwarded this complaint to the Commission on 28 June 1999 with a request for comments. The Commission commented on your complaint in your letter of 29 September 1999, which I sent to you on 6 October 1999.
In your letter of 5 November 1999, you informed me that, in the light of the Commission's letter and given the limited amount of the disputed sum, Y decided not to pursue the complaint.
I have therefore decided to close the examination of your complaint.
Sincerely,
Jacob SÖDERMAN
