The complainant made a number of requests to the European Commission for public access to documents related to different meetings between the Commission and interest representatives. In several instances, the Commission stated that it did not hold any document related to the meetings in question. The complainant turned to the Ombudsman as he considered this to be at odds with the Commission's obligations on record keeping.
The Commission stated that it had provided the complainant with documentation of over 100 meetings in the relevant period. The Commission also explained that it was holding minutes or similar records in relation to all meetings concerned, with the exception of two meetings that had not actually taken place. The complainant did not respond to this information.
The Ombudsman considered that no further inquiries were justified and closed the inquiry.
