Publication of information concerning post service activities of a senior staff member who left the service of EU in accordance with Article 16(2) and (3) of the Staff Regulations

In March 2024, Ms Cesira D'Aniello the former Secretary General (SG) of the European Ombudsman informed the Office of her intention to engage in a post service activity. Ms D'Aniello addressed her request for authorisation to the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU (from which she had been seconded to the European Ombudsman for the last three years of service). The Ombudsman’s office submitted its assessment to the Council after consulting its Joint Committee. Subsequently the Council decided to grant permission for the exercise of the post service  activity in question.

Ombudsman's assessment and conclusions

Pursuant to Article 16(2) of the Staff Regulations and in light of the nature and conditions of Ms D’Aniello’s assignment, the Ombudsman did not identify any potential risk of conflict of interest. The Ombudsman's assessment was transmitted to the General Secretariat of the Council which authorised the post service activity in question.
