Decision of the European Ombudsman on complaint 533/2002/PB against the European Commission
Decision
Case 533/2002/PB - Opened on Tuesday | 09 April 2002 - Decision on Thursday | 13 June 2002
Dear Mr X.,
On 21 March 2002, you made a complaint to the European Ombudsman concerning the Commission's failure to provide information.
On 4 April 2002, I forwarded the complaint to the President of the European Commission.
On 22 April 2002, you informed me that the Commission has provided you with the information that you requested, and that you no longer wish to pursue your complaint.
THE COMPLAINT
In a complaint made to the Ombudsman in March 2002, the complainant alleged that the Commission had failed to respond to several requests for information. The complainant's requests concerned an Article 226 infringement complaint that he had submitted to the Commission in September 1999.
THE INQUIRY
The complaint was forwarded to the Commission for opinion on 4 April 2002.
On 22 April 2002, the complainant informed the Ombudsman that the Commission had subsequently provided him with the information that he requested, and that he no longer wished to pursue his complaint.
THE DECISION
1 Failure to provide information1.1 The complainant alleged that the Commission had failed to respond to his letters of 31 January, 26 February and 5 March 2002. He claimed to be informed on the Commission's handling of his infringement complaint and the measures that have been taken.
1.2 In a letter dated 22 April 2002, the complainant informed the Ombudsman that the Commission had provided him with the information that he requested, and that he no longer wished to pursue his complaint.
2 ConclusionIt appears that the Commission has taken steps to settle the matter and has thereby satisfied the complainant. The Ombudsman therefore closes the case.
The President of the Commission will also be informed of this decision.
Yours sincerely,
Jacob SÖDERMAN
