The complainant was concerned about how the European Investment Bank (EIB) dealt with the notification of a former vice-president to take up a post-mandate position in an Italian bank. The complainant raised concerns about this move, for example about risks of conflicts of interest.

The Ombudsman sought to inspect documents concerning the EIB's decision to approve the move, and asked the EIB to reply to a number of questions. Following the EIB's reply, the Ombudsman sought further clarification from the EIB on a number of issues.
