The European Investment Bank holding certain personal information of job applicants before recruitment decision

The Ombudsman opened an own-initiative inquiry to look into concerns about the nature and context of personal data requested from job applicants in the context of recruitment procedures by the European Investment Bank (EIB). The Ombudsman wrote to the EIB President asking that the EIB respond to a series of concerns set out in the letter.

The EIB replied that it had changed its practices to address the concerns raised by the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman welcomed the EIB’s constructive response, and closed the inquiry.
