Decision on how the European Commission (Your Europe Advice) dealt with a query about racism in Germany (case 1703/2022/KT)

Dear Mr X,

You recently submitted a complaint to the European Ombudsman against Your Europe Advice concerning the above issue. Your Europe Advice is an EU advice service operated under a contract with the European Commission.

After careful analysis of all the information you provided with your complaint, we have decided to close the inquiry with the following conclusion:

Based on the information provided in the complaint, there was no maladministration.

In your query to Your Europe Advice, you complained about systemic racism in Germany. You stated that you wished to file a lawsuit against Germany and to claim compensation for health issues caused to you due to the alleged racism.

Your Europe Advice responded that it was unable to help you, as your query did not fall within the scope of its service (it did not relate to EU Internal Market rights).

Considering the nature of the issues you raised, we find no indication of maladministration in Your Europe Advice’s reply, which is in line with its mandate as described on its website[1].

Thank you for having contacted the European Ombudsman. [2]

Yours sincerely,

Tina Nilsson
