European Ombudsman – promoting accountability and improved access to EU decision-making

Transcript of this video

The European Ombudsman works to improve the accountability of the EU institutions and bodies by increasing transparency, making sure EU institutions account for and properly explain decisions, and guaranteeing citizens’ rights to participate in the EU’s decision-making process.

Transcript of this video

This short video gives a visual representation of the European Ombudsman's work in a core area: public involvement in EU decision making.

In the video, a representative from a non-governmental organisation (NGO) is supposed to attend a meeting on EU policy, but cannot find the door to the room where the meeting is taking place.

Suddenly, the logo of the European Ombudsman appears in front of the character. She presses the logo as if it were a button. The door to the meeting room then appears before the NGO representative.

The video ends with the European Ombudsman logo and the statement: “Problems accessing EU decision making? The European Ombudsman is here to help”.
