1. The complainant is the Federation of Greek Dairy Industries. Concerned about the protection of Geographical Indications (feta cheese) in the EU's negotiations with China and the EU's trade agreement with the South African Development Community (SADC), the complainant wrote to the European Commission. Not having received a reply, the complainant turned to the Ombudsman.

2. The Office of the Ombudsman made contact with the relevant service of the Commission. As a result of the Ombudsman’s intervention, the Commission replied to the complainant.

3. As the matter falling within the scope of the Ombudsman’s inquiry is solved, the case should be closed.
