Overview of new features in the European Ombudsman's website
05/09/2013: Digest of cases
Every year, the European Ombudsman conducts hundreds of inquiries into possible instances of maladministration by the EU institutions, bodies, offices, and agencies. Decisions and other documents related to these inquiries are published on the Ombudsman's website. The new 'Digest of cases' section of the website contains the key findings of the Ombudsman's inquiries, searchable through a variety of categories, with links to the texts of the full decisions, and other documents where relevant.

- The website is now available in 24 languages: Croatian(HR) is the new official language (after the first of July).
- The website response speed has been enhenced.

- At your service / Who can help you?: The European Ombudsman has produced this section to give you an overview of the different information, advice, and complaint-handling bodies that you might consider turning to. To help you better understand how each of the bodies listed can help you, we have included, within each section, examples of the type of help the body concerned can provide.

- A number of pages on the European Ombudsman's website give you the possibility of sharing the page contents through a variety of social networking websites. The links that enable you to do so can be found near the top and bottom of the relevant pages on the European Ombudsman's website and look like this:
If you wish to share a page via a social network, simply click on the relevant link and then follow the instructions. You will need to register with the social networking website in question in order to be able to use it to share information. All of the social networking websites linked to from the European Ombudsman's website are free to use.

- Press / Visual identity: On 27 September 2010, the European Ombudsman's new visual identity was launched. Our website has therefore been redesigned to conform to the new visual identity.

- At your service / Complaint form: The online complaint form now uses SSL (secure socket layer) encryption for even more security. The secure pages are indicated by a padlock symbol. The European Ombudsman's SSL website is verified by GlobalSign Domain Validation CA, GlobalSign nv-sa.
The online complaint form data is encrypted before being transmitted over the Internet. Encryption makes it very difficult for unauthorised people to view information travelling between computers. It is therefore very unlikely that anyone can read the page as it travels across the network.

- Resources / Historical documents: The historical documents section contains a number of references to documents produced by EU institutions, with which some readers may not be familiar.
