Decision in case 1824/2017/DK on the European Commission’s failure to answer correspondence concerning the application of EU Law by the United Kingdom

1. On 5 August 2017, the complainant wrote to the European Commission about the application of EU Law by the United Kingdom. As the complainant did not receive a reply, she turned to the Ombudsman, on 25 September 2017.

2. The Ombudsman’s inquiry team contacted the European Commission. The Commission then responded that it already replied to the complainant by email of 10 August 2017.

3. As a reply was actually sent to the complainant before the opening of the inquiry, this complaint is resolved and the Ombudsman closes the case[1].

[1] If the complainant considers that the institution’s reply is not satisfactory, it is open to her to make a new complaint to the Ombudsman.
