How the European Commission dealt with an infringement complaint against Germany concerning a ruling of its constitutional court

The complaint concerns the European Commission's failure to take a decision within the applicable time limit on an infringement complaint that Germany had breached fundamental principles of EU law following a ruling by its constitutional court that concerned the European Central Bank and the Court of Justice of the EU.

The Ombudsman found that there were no grounds to open an inquiry since the Commission has in the meantime opened an infringement procedure and sent a letter of formal notice to Germany.
