Access Info Europe is a human rights organisation based in Madrid, which works to advance government transparency at the national and EU levels, to protect civil liberties, fight corruption and increase public participation in decision making.
Helen Darbishire is a founder and former chair of the Freedom of Information Advocates Network, which inaugurated the "International Right to Know Day" in 2002; the day is now celebrated around the world. Access Info Europe drafted the right to information indicators for the recently launched Open Government Partnership.
Helen has extensive experience promoting the right to information globally, including by assisting drafting and promoting implementation of access to information laws in Europe, Latin America, and Africa.
Recent publications include “Proactive Transparency: the future of the right to information?” published by the World Bank in 2010, and “Beyond Access: Open Government Data and the Right to (Re)Use Information” published by Access Info Europe and the Open Knowledge Foundation in 2011.
