Next steps in OI/7/2013/EIS

Dear Ms Langbakk,

At this stage of my inquiry, it would be useful for my services to inspect, in accordance with Article 3(2) of the Statute of the European Ombudsman, the Institute's files concerning (i) its handling of all appeals and requests made under Articles 90(2) and 24 of the Staff Regulations and (ii) its dealings with the staff committee.

The inspection will be carried out in accordance with the Ombudsman's Implementing Provisions. For obvious reasons, all documents in files under category (i) above will be treated as confidential. As regards, category (ii), the Institute should indicate during the inspection any of the documents inspected that it wishes the Ombudsman to treat as confidential.

I would also like to inform you that I have decided to transfer responsibility for handling this inquiry to Ms Marta Hirsch-Ziembinska (tel. +33 (0)3 88 17 27 46), the Head of Complaints and Inquiries Unit 1.

I should be grateful if your services would contact Ms Marta Hirsch-Ziembinska as soon as possible in order to agree on a convenient date for the inspection.

Yours sincerely,

Emily O'Reilly
