Decision of the European Ombudsman on complaint 934/99/UK against the European Commission
Decision
Case 934/99/VK - Opened on Friday | 03 September 1999 - Decision on Tuesday | 16 November 1999
Strasbourg, 16 November 1999
Dear Mr H.,
I refer to your letter of 22 July 1999 in which you complain, on behalf of Alpha Translation Service, that the Commission has failed to meet its obligation to pay for interpreting services provided by you for a conference.
Following a careful examination of your complaint, the European Ombudsman sent your complaint to the President of the European Commission on 3 September 1999, inviting him to submit his observations. By letter of 16 September 1999, you informed the European Ombudsman that your complaint had been remedied by the Commission as the payment requested had been made by the Commission. You also stated that it was incomprehensible to you that Alpha Translation Service had to bear the costs of the bank transfer in the amount of DEM 40. The Ombudsman then contacted you to clarify whether the complaint was definitively closed for you. On 27 October 1999, your office informed the Ombudsman by telephone that the case had been finally closed for you.
The Ombudsman therefore considers that the Commission has taken the necessary measures to settle the matter.
The European Ombudsman has therefore closed the case.
I will also inform the President of the European Commission of this decision.
Sincerely,
Jacob SÖDERMAN
