Inquiry outcome
The complainant raised concerns about the European Commission exempting so-called ‘reality checks’ from its standard transparency measures. Reality checks are a form of consultation with representatives of companies carried out in the context of the Commission’s work to simplify EU legislation.
The Ombudsman opened an inquiry and set out a list of questions to the Commission. She also sought to inspect various documents concerning the issue.
