Inquiry outcome
The complainant raised concerns with the European Investment Bank (EIB) about a wind energy project in Bosnia and Herzegovina that received EIB funding. They asserted that the project is not compliant with EU environmental law, the Aarhus Convention, and the EIB’s Environmental and Social Standards. They also argued that the Conclusions Report, issued by the EIB Complaints Mechanism in response to their complaints, had failed to meet the standard of an objective, thorough, and transparent investigation.
The Ombudsman opened an inquiry and asked the EIB to provide a written reply to the complaint. She also asked to inspect documents held by the EIB that concern the issue.
