The complainant sought public access to correspondence between the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) and journalists, and was unhappy with how Frontex dealt with his request. In particular, the complainant disagreed with Frontex's claim that it did not hold the documents in question.

The Ombudsman opened an inquiry and sought to meet with Frontex to discuss some of the matters at issue in the complaint.
