The complainant was concerned about how the European Commission ensures the transparency of the Medical Device Coordination Group (MDCG), an ‘expert group’ providing advice on matters of policy related to medical devices. In particular, the complainant considered that the Commission does not make available to the public sufficient information and documents about the deliberations of the group.

The Ombudsman opened an inquiry and asked the Commission to address the concerns raised by the complainant.
