Decision of the European Ombudsman on complaint 700/2004/GG against the European Commission

Strasbourg, 3 May 2004

Dear Mr H.,

On 3 March 2004 you submitted, acting on behalf of RM Consultants Ltd, a complaint against the European Commission. This complaint concerned payment for a training course for Commission staff in Luxembourg organised in June 2003. RM Consultants Ltd alleged that despite numerous requests, payment due to it under its contract with the Commission had still not been made. It claimed payment of the amount of € 3 900, plus interest in respect of late payment.

On 22 March 2004, I forwarded your complaint to the Commission and asked the latter for an opinion on this complaint by 31 May 2004.

By letter dated 2 April 2004 (received here on 21 April 2004), you informed me that the Commission had now made a transfer in full settlement of the outstanding invoice and that you wished to withdraw your complaint. You expressed the view that the matter might well have taken much longer to resolve if I had not intervened.

It appears from your letter that the Commission has taken steps to settle the matter and has thereby satisfied the complainant. I therefore close the case.

The President of the Commission will also be informed of this decision.

Yours sincerely,
