Do citizens feel they can shape EU decisions? What makes a successful participatory democracy tool? How can public administrations, ombudsmen and others better involve citizens in decision-making?
On the eve of the European elections, European Ombudsman Emily O’Reilly organises the annual European Network of Ombudsmen conference, which will discuss measures to improve participatory democracy in the EU.
The keynote address will be given by Michel Barnier, who as former EU Commissioner, government minister, and lately the EU’s Chief Negotiator for Brexit, will give insights into which democratic challenges the EU is facing and how we can tackle this. Deadline for registration is on 29 March.
